IRCTC the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation is a part of Indian Railways. It handles online ticket booking, tourism and catering services of the Indian Railways. IRCTC has recently launched it's new faster and efficient next generation e-Ticketing system to help people who were facing difficulty to access the website due to huge load on website.
The online ticketing system is mostly accessed during Tatkal timings and therefore it was difficult to access the website during this time. It was difficult for users to log in the website and book ticket during Tatkal timings. But with the NGET IRCTC website it has become faster to log in and access the website.
Generally there is a huge load on the website at 10 am, which often slows down the booking process when booking of Tatkal tickets opens. Therefore on 13th June 2014 IRCTC online booking has been migrated from the old version to the Next Generation e-Ticketing website which has certain good features like Quick Booking,Saving favorite journeys and made some major changes on the User Interface.

- Corporate website - www.irctc.com.
- Online Ticketing website - www.irctc.co.in.
It's next generation e-Ticketing system can be accessed on http://www.irctc.co.in. The online ticketing website is used to check seat availability, log in, registration, plan my travel, Tatkal booking, train enquiry etc.

Online Ticketing
It has transformed the ticketing system of Indian Railways with it's best in class internet based train ticket booking and IRCTC mobile ticket booking system. Tickets can be booked from the mobile phones via GPRS or SMS. In addition to e-tickets, it also offers I-tickets that are basically like regular tickets except that they are booked online and delivered by post.
