Train Ticket Booking Process to Book Tickets On IRCTC New Website

The IRCTC new website has changed completely and therefore the ticket booking process has also changed. Now users can even do train inquiry and check seat availability without doing account login.

The new IRCTC website can be accessed at https://www.irctc.co.in/nget/train-search

In the new website, there are two ways to book tickets:
1. Without login to IRCTC account
2. After login to IRCTC account

Steps to book ticket without login

  1. Open the new IRCTC website.
  2. It will show the "Book your ticket" train inquiry box. It will have the "From" station, "To" station, Journey date, class of journey, etc options to select.

  3. Fill the details like from station, to station, journey date, class of journey and then click on the "Find Trains" button.
  4. It will show a list of trains which matches with your train inquiry. A "Check availability & fare" button is available against each train, click on it for your desired train.

  5. Now it will show you the seat availability for the next 6 days along with fare with a "Book Now" button. Click on the book now button for the date you want to book a seat on the train.

  6. At this stage, the system will ask you to do the login and display a login page for you. You can check how to login to IRCTC for the steps to sign in to the new website.

  7. Once you sign in successfully system will take you to the "Passenger details" page. Here you can fill in your details and the details of any additional passenger along with you.

  8. Then the system will ask you to verify your booking details. If you want to do any modification then you can check here.
  9. Now the system will give you the various option to make payment for your ticket booking.
  10. Once payment is successful, the system will show the successful message and generates your e-ticket. You can check the ticket details in Ticket Booking History.

Steps to book ticket after login

  1. Open the new IRCTC website.
  2. On the homepage, it will show the "Book your ticket" train inquiry box. It will have the "From" station, "To" station, Journey date, class of journey, etc options to select.
  3. Now sign in to your IRCTC account. You can check how to login to IRCTC for the steps to sign in to the new website.
  4. After successful sign-in, fill the details like from station, to the station, journey date, class of journey in the train inquiry box. Now click on the "Find Trains" button.
  5. It will show a list of trains which matches with your train inquiry. A "Check availability & fare" button is available against each train, click on it for your desired train.
  6. Now it will show you the seat availability for the next 6 days along with fare with a "Book Now" button. Click on the book now button for the date you want to book a seat on the train.
  7. The system will now take you to the "Passenger details" page. Here you can fill in your details and the details of any additional passenger along with you.
  8. Then the system will ask you to verify your booking details. If you want to do any modification then you can check here.
  9. Now the system will give you the various option to make payment for your ticket booking.
  10. Once payment is successful, the system will show the successful message and generates your e-ticket.
On the mobile website, steps are almost the same. The only little bit different is in the screens at various levels. And on the mobile website also both options, ticket booking without login and after login is available. link for the IRCTC mobile website is also the same, https://www.irctc.co.in/nget/train-search.

Steps for mobile train ticket booking

  1. Open the new IRCTC website on the mobile browser.
  2. On the mobile phone also, it will show the "Book your ticket" train inquiry box. It will have the "From" station, "To" station, Journey date, class of journey, etc options to select.

  3. Now, fill the details like from station, to station, journey date, class of journey in the train inquiry box and click on the "Find Trains" button.
  4. It will show a list of trains which matches with your train inquiry. A "Check availability & fare" button is available against each train, click on it for your desired train. The screen on the mobile phone will look like the picture given below.

  5. Now it will show you the seat availability for the next 6 days along with fare with a "Book Now" button. Click on the book now button for the date you want to book a seat on the train. The screen on the mobile phone will look like the picture given below.

  6. Now the system will give you the option to log in on your mobile website, sign in to your IRCTC account. You can check how to login to IRCTC for the steps to sign in to the new website.

  7. The system will now take you to the "Passenger details" page. Here you can fill in your details and the details of any additional passenger along with you. The screen on the mobile will look like below.

  8. Then the system will ask you to verify your booking details. If you want to do any modification then you can check here. The screen on the mobile will look like below.

  9. Now the system will give you the various option to make payment for your ticket booking and screen will look like below. You have to scroll through the website to see the complete page.

  10. Once payment is successful, the system will show the successful message and generates your e-ticket. Then you can check your ticket details, take a print, cancel it and check PNR status, etc from ticket booked history in your account.
