IRCTC eWALLET Scheme | IRCTC's e-WALLET Registration

IRCTC eWALLET is a new scheme launched by IRCTC. This scheme allows users to deposit money in advance in their IRCTC account. The e-Wallet balance can be used to make payment while booking tickets on IRCTC website in addition of other payment options available. This scheme will help users to book ticket faster than before. But this scheme is not available from 8 AM in the morning and till 12 Noon. Therefore this scheme is not available for Takal ticket booking in the morning. Also you have to pay Rs. 250/- to register for e-Wallet scheme, which is non refundable.

Benefits of IRCTC eWALLET scheme

According to IRCTC the e-wallet scheme will provide following benefits:
  1. While booking train tickets through IRCTC account, the transaction will be more hassle free and secure.
  2. This scheme eliminates the bank payment approval process during ticket booking, therefore booking ticket will become faster.
  3. Saving of Payment Gateway per ticket. Because Payment Gateways are not involved while booking tickets though this scheme.
  4. Users can manage their e-Wallet account online and also top up by depositing money online.
  5. When any of the provided banks go offline that is out of service, then still users can book tickets though e-WALLET account.
  6. In case of any train ticket cancellation, the due refund will be credited to users IRCTC eWALLET Account next day.

Steps to IRCTC eWALLET registeration and ticket booking:

  1. Login to IRCTC account with your existing IRCTC user id and password.
  2. Click the "e-WALLET Registration" link under e-WALLET Section in the "Plan my travel" page.
  3. Complete Verification process by providing PAN CARD No. and other details.
  4. Deposit one time registration fee of Rs.250/-(inclusive of Service Tax and Education CESS on Service Tax,non refundable) online with any of the available payment options.
  5. Credit the IRCTC eWALLET account with the minimum deposit of Rs.100/- and top up with the required booking amount. Maximum amount permitted in user's account is Rs. 5,000.
  6. Pay ticket booking amount through IRCTC eWALLET, which is displayed as payment option along with other Banks.
  7. An e-ticket is provided as usual on successful train ticket booking.

Note: IRCTC's e-WALLET facility is not available from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Steps to Make deposit in IRCTC eWALLET account

  1. Login to IRCTC account by entering your user name and password.
  2. To deposit the amount in the e-Wallet, click to "e-Wallet DEPOSIT" link on the left navigation bar.
  3. Select the payment option from drop down list and Click on submit button for payment.
  4. You can deposit minimum amount of Rs. 100/- and can maintain maximum amount of Rs.5000/- in your account. The deposit amount is non-refundable and should be in multiple of Rs.100/- only.
  5. After the successful deposit, a successful payment message will be provided.
  6. To check the status of deposit in e-Wallet account, click 'DEPOSIT HISTORY' link on the left navigation bar. Enter the profile password and click 'Go' button.
  7. You will be redirected to 'Deposit History' page where status of all the e-Wallet deposit amount will be provided.
